Petrified Wood: Oregon Oak
Age: Miocene approximately 25 million years old.
Location: Deschutes River Canyon, Oregon.
This is petrified oak round is from the Deschutes River Canyon in
Central Oregon. It's an excellent medium-sized, measures in at 8” x 6”. A richly colored red oak fossil round from one of Oregon's prized
petrified oak deposits. Oak from Oregon has a more earthy color
palate. This is due to the permineralization being created by silica
derived from volcanic rock.
