Petrified Wood: Oregon Oak
Age: Miocene approximately 25 million years old.
Location: Deschutes River Canyon, Oregon.
A richly colored red oak fossil round from one of Oregon's prized petrified oak deposits. This petrified oak round is from the Deschutes River Canyon in Central Oregon. It's an excellent medium-sized, measures 8” x 6”. Oak from Oregon has a more earthy color
palate. This is due to the permineralization being created by silica derived from volcanic rock.
