This is an exceptional specimen displaying visible colors and wood
grain highlights. The outer edge is left natural showing the fossilized
bark edge. This piece measures 11.5” x 9.5”.
Petrified wood is a fossil in which the organic remains have been
replaced by minerals in the slow process of being replaced with
stone. The end result is petrified wood, a plant, with its original basic
structure in place, replaced by stone.
