The Great American Eclipse 2017

**The Exploratorium Store is currently sold out of eclipse safety glasses. We apologize for the inconvenience.**

A total solar eclipse will sweep across the United States on August 21. Weather
permitting, it will be visible along a 70-mile-wide path arching from Oregon to South Carolina. The Exploratorium’s eclipse team, along with our NASA partners, will film the event from two different locations—Madras, Oregon and Casper,
Wyoming—and share it with the world via livestream.

Join us August 21 for educational programs and viewings of the livestream from
Madras and Casper throughout the museum. From San Francisco, the moon will only partly cover the Sun—a partial eclipse—and we will have activities on our Plaza for safe viewing. Astronomers will also be available to answer questions.

To prepare, inform, and excite you, we have gathered a collection of eclipse-related merchandise. Curious about the history of eclipses? Check out
astronomer Tyler Nordgren’s fascinating book Sun Moon Earth. Both of these
products are available, as are a commemorative poster, magnet, and T-shirt with
original artwork and designs.
