Amazonite is a variety of Microcline, also referred to as an alkali feldspar mineral. This crystal forms in tiny prismatic crystals or large masses. Amazonite has a chemical composition of Kalsi 3 O 8, and its green color is thought to be caused by small quantities of lead and water in the feldspar.
This large mineral specimen measures 8” high x 6” length x 4” depth with Mohs Hardness of 6-6.5 and a triclinic crystal structure.; This specimen is from the Minas Gerais region of Brazil. Amazonite is also known as the Amazon stone because it was thought; to have been discovered at the Amazon River Basin in Brazil. However, there are no deposits found there.
