Ammonites are an extinct cephalopod from the Cretaceous period known for their striking coiled shells and well-preserved fossil record. These carnivorous mollusks are the ancestors of modern day squids, octopus, and nautilus. 

Cleoniceras is the genus of the listed ammonite fossil. The fossil has been sliced in half to reveal its intricate internal chambers in the shell's structure.
