Red Jasper is an opaque, microcrystalline quartz prized for its rich earthy red color, which comes from iron oxides within the stone. It forms over millions of years as iron-rich silica cements fine sediments, and is found worldwide, including in Brazil, India, Australia, Madagascar, and parts of the United States.
